Matthew Dean is the founder of Scare the Bear (STB) Capital.

STB focuses on minority investments in lower middle market govcon businesses. Approach is to bring capital plus “been there, done that” experts that focus on 12 STB valuation drivers with goal of increasing small business value prior to going on the market for traditional transaction.

Prior to Scare the Bear, Matt founded and led Markon Solutions from start up through successful exit to Anser Advisory where he served as Chief Operating Officer and key executive in helping Anser Advisory sell to Accenture LLP in 2023.

Matt started his career as a government cost estimator for Department of Navy after receiving his engineering degree from Virginia Tech.
